SV Kaskelot
One of the last classic wooden vessels, and one of the largest wooden ships still in commission, SV Kaskelot, is a three masted barque double top-sail tall sailing ship and is seen during a visit to Sutton Harbour, on Plymouth's Barbican on 4th August 2018. Built in 1948 by J. Ring-Andersen at the Svendborg shipyard in Denmark, she was built as a traditional Baltic trader for the Royal Greenland Trading Company, and was used to carry supplies to remote coastal settlements in East Greenland. During the 1960s, 'Kaskelot' worked as a support vessel for the Danish fisheries in the Faroe Islands before undergoing an extensive refit at T. Nielsen in Gloucester in 2013 by the current owners. 'Kaskelot' is scheduled to stay in Plymouth for around 6 weeks, due to depart the Barbican in early September. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mzvXiDNT_6c
