'Queen Elizabeth' Class Super-Carriers
HMS Queen Elizabeth R08
9 years in the planning, HMS Queen Elizabeth R08 is here at last! Ordered in 2008, construction of the first of the Royal Navy's two 'Queen Elizabeth' class super-carriers began at Rosyth on 7th July 2009, with her being launched by Her Majesty the Queen on 17th July 2014. HMS Queen Elizabeth began sea trials in June 2017, and finally entered her new home of Portsmouth for the first time on 16th August 2017. Filmed just two days after her arrival in Portsmouth, we see the 65,000 ton super-carrier alongside the purpose built Princess Royal Jetty at Portsmouth Naval Base. Surely now, Britannia once again rules the waves!

HMS Queen Elizabeth R08 leaves Portsmouth Naval Base at the Round & Square Towers, Portsmouth as she leaves for the United States on 18th August 2018. Her deployment will see her on operational sea training where she will be trialled with the new F-35B fighter jets that will be deployed on her from 2021. One of two 'Queen Elizabeth' carriers, HMS Queen Elizabeth at 65,000 tons and £3.1 billion, is the largest and most expensive vessel ever to fly the white ensign. Even the fog horn, at 162 decibels is incredible! Look out for the ship's Padre, complete with cloak, staff and biretta overseeing the RN's flagship! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L1otHFz3zLc
