HMS Tyne P281
HMS Tyne P281, a 'River' class offshore patrol vessel built by Vosper Thornycroft in Southampton and commissioned into the fleet in July 2003 to serve as a fishery protection unit. The sixth Royal Navy warship to bare the name 'Tyne,' she has a displacement of 1700 tons and is powered by two Ruston 12 cylinder RK270 diesel engines, the same type that were adopted by BR to re-engine their Class 37/9 locomotives 37901-37904 from 1987. HMS Tyne has had mixed fortunes this year, being decommissioned on 24th May 2018 only to be reinstated two months later due to the late delivery of HMS Forth. However, due to the UK's planned exit from the EU, the three batch 1 'River' class will now be retained so as to protect the UK's waters and fisheries. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2IuoKogavbk
