Returning to her home base of Devonport, HMS Trenchant S91 passes Devil's Point on 10th July 2018. Her lengthy deployment has seen her operate in the North Pole, breaking through the metre thick Arctic ice for a major exercise where she joined two US submarines USS Connecticut and USS Hartford for the drills, co-ordinated by the US Navy's Arctic Submarine Laboratory. Ice Exercise 18 (ICEX) involved a series of demanding trials in the frigid climate of the Arctic Circle, designed to test submariners' skills in operating under the Arctic ice cap. One of four 'Trafalgar' class submarines, Trenchant is now almost 30 years old, and is currently scheduled for decommissioning in 2019. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PyBOZI1cL78
