HMS Severn P282
Decommissioned in October 2017 after a commissioned life of just 14 years, we see HMS Severn leaving Devonport Naval Base, as she passes Mount Wise and Royal William Yard as she heads out to sea on 18th April 2017. HMS Severn is the second River Class Patrol vessel built by Vosper Thornycroft at their Woolston yard in Southampton, and was launched on 4th December 2002. Commissioned in July 2003, she is the ninth warship of the Royal Navy to bare the name Severn, the first being a 50 gun warship built in 1695. The current HMS Severn is 260 feet long and has a beam of 44'3", and with a displacement of 1700 tons, is powered by two Ruston 12 cylinder RK270 diesel engines.
