Named after the Danish Archbishop Absalon (1128-1201), HDMS Absalon L16 and her sister ship 'Esbern Snare' are the two largest warships ever to serve with the Royal Danish Navy. Launched on 30th January 2005, at 6300 tons she is one of two 'Absalon' class support warships that are primarily used for command and support roles.
